Will ocean freight rates increase again in late August?
Since late July, international shipping rates have seen consecutive decreases over three weeks, resulting in reductions exceeding $2000 per 40HQ container from China to the U.S. West Coast, and over $1000 to the U.S. East Coast. However, starting in the second week of August, various shipping companies have indicated that international shipping rates are set to increase again by late August.
The first official announcement of rate increases came from COSCO, as detailed in the market release notice from COSCO.
